Another winner of an EISA award who has kindly sent a press release is Sigma.

I must say the ‘Art’ series has been carving a good reputation for itself, and it is nice to see a traditional focal length being produced, when for so many years it lost popularity to the 70-200mm type zoom lens.

Not used one, so can not add anything specific to the news.

Here we go with the details:

SIGMA 135mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art has won the EISA award 2017-2018
The SIGMA Corporation is pleased to announce that the ultimate 135mm telephoto
featuring top-level performance, SIGMA 135mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art has won the “EISA EUROPEAN DSLR LENS 2017-2018” award. Focusing on the pursuit of further image quality and giving priority to essential performance, we will continue to strive to develop products that are truly pleasing to our customers.

Name of Award: EISA DSLR LENS 2017-2018
The SIGMA 135mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art is an extremely capable performer. The sharpness is better at its maximum aperture of F1.8 than its competitors are when stopped down.
There is simply no reason to not use this lens wide open. SIGMA has managed to make the autofocus fast and accurate, which is impressive for such a bright lens, and the wide aperture creates a particularly beautiful background blur (bokeh).
